YNAB Classic App Reviews

I love YNAB but the app is still lacking. I would love to be able to edit my budget from the app.

This app is pretty good but I wish it had more features available. The computer version is amazing but I find the app version lacking. Im a visual person so I like to see graphs and "usage" bars for each category showing how much is left for the month. The app is good for a quick reference but I would not recommend using solely the app.

This software is really helping me out a lot. Im really benefiting from the tutorials and tips on spending money, and I love how extensive it is. This app makes me excited about budgeting and sticking to it - which is something I normally struggle with. App needs some more features, but it allows me to check if I have enough money to make a purchase when Im on the go. This really comes in handy! Absolutely a great investment

The app is good and much more flexible on the iPad than iPhone. But the YNAB system, while powerful, really gets complicated once you start trying to use credit cards or reimbursements. The help forums are great but after a while you get tired of spending hours trying to wrap your head around how to budget with this thing. People swear by it and it does work when you keep a simple budget. But using it realistically requires so many tutorials and counterintuitive tips that I have to find something else.

Best budgeting software ever!!!! Wish the app had a few more options, like adding categories and viewing spending like the computer version but I am totally in love with YNAB.

I love YNAB -- this app has honestly changed my life! I always thought I was pretty good with my money but once I started following the rules and creating a budget, I realized I was trapping myself in the paycheque to paycheque cycle. YNAB helped me look at my money in a way I never would have before. Dont start a conversation with me about budgets because I will talk you ear off about how incredible this app is. Ive been using it for almost 3 years and I would never go back. To the YNAB team -- THANK YOU! And please add support for the iPhone 6S for 3D Touch support!!

Dont download the classic app! Downloaded the classic on the iPad and it has been crashing every time I open it. Keep the old version if you can!

The update on December 30 broke the app for me. Entering a transaction against a budget item corrupts the gui and prevents seeing other budget line items. Im still in my 34 day trial and was planning on purchasing at the beginning of January but this has put me off. The new online version doesnt interest me at all.

Needs to be downloaded to a desktop (PC or Mac) so I cant just use it on my smartphone. Plus it keeps asking to sync information when all I want to do is input everything manually and go. Not recommended if you just want download app and start using it. It wont let you just use it as a stand alone app.

And the "no monthly fee" part is excellent :)

The YNAB tool as a whole works really well. The one thing I wish was I had more functionality to make changes to my budget on the app itself, or set reoccurring payments etc...through the app. Right now I need to do it through the program on the computer. Otherwise great product, one time fee which is fantastic rather than on going payments like many other apps.

The app works extremely well for me and is well worth the money. I love the YNAB concept and definitely recommend reading up on the whole system and philosophy at their website. My only problems with this app are just a couple small things such as how when you tap a previous amount to edit it doesnt rewrite the amount automatically, so you have to hit backspace... Small stuff like that. I think they will improve it over time. I would also appreciate a few more options to control what is or isnt displayed or little controls for size, etc. I think the size wouldnt bother me on an iPhone 5... Kudos also to the multi sync option. It is so easy for my wife and I to both input transactions into the family budget via Dropbox. Works without any trouble for us so far. In any case, if you use desktop version of YNAB this is definitely good.

After buying the software (60$ but worth it), you can sync transactions between PC, Dropbox, and iPhone. Excellent for budgeting and planning. A website and blog provide frequent advice and tips for money management. It can be set up to work with multiple currencies (I use Yen). Because I have the YNAB software and a shared Dropbox folder on my wifes PC too, she can record transactions that stay in sync with those entered by me from my iPhone/PC; this allows us to track our budgeting together more effectively and facilitates a brief 15-minute budget review that we do at the end of each month. If you are looking for a clear, effective way to manage your finances that is sophisticated yet very easy to understand and implement, then this software/iPhone app combo is right for you.

Where is the native iPad app????? Takes way too long.

Yeah, Im not linking your app to my PC, nor will I link it to my Dropbox. I only want a standalone app. Bye.

The new interface is so useful and friendly. I dont need a computer for budgeting anymore. Thanks guys!

The only functionality of this app is registering spendings and sync them with YNAB installed on your computer. This app should be free for owners of YNAB licenses. There are cheaper apps in App Store which offer great more possibilities (Money 5.0 for example).

Great but..doesnt work on iphone 4.

Good app, awesome to use, but with manual sync with a desktop at home is not comfortable. Please, improve the App with sync through Mobile me, or Dropbox, or just file through Internet.
